We are prisoners to fear. Afraid to live the life we want out of fear of being ridiculed, rejected or judged by others. Rather than live our own lives, we adjust to that of others. To fit into the confines placed upon us.

That’s not living. It’s following. It’s not growing, but rather stagnating. It is an unhappy existence. Not a meaningful life.

How do we break free from that fear? How do we live our lives? ¬†There’s a simple journey we can all take. Though the journey can be difficult at times, the rewards are too great to avoid.

And it’s me who is my enemy
Me who beats me up
Me who makes the monsters
Me who strips my confidence
And it’s me who’s too weak
And it’s me who’s too shy to ask for the thing I love
And it’s me who’s too weak
And it’s me who’s too shy to ask for the thing I love

Lyrics from Me, by Paula Cole.
