Current Google Search Trends

Up Early Designs

Recently we discussed Google Search Trends (Google Search Trends to read more). In this post I want to highlight further how powerful of a tool this is.

Continuing on the example of the key word search for “jewelry” below is a report that shows where people are searching from geographically. The following happens to be just for the US, but you can access this data for any country where a user is entering the word “jewelry” (in this example) in their search bar.

At the bottom right of the chart, you’ll see three little dots stacked on top. Simply click on those and see how you can change the data and either take an overview look or dive in to state and city data.

And to read the data could not be easier. Just simply move your mouse and “voila” it magically appears.  Well, more javascript and a lot less magic.

To see even more data, please view our most recent addition to the UpEarlyDesigns site by clicking Current Trends. For further help, we included some handy images with notes below. Enjoy!

Subregion View

The subregion view is shown below. Notice how when you hover over “Utah” the data for that state appears.

City View

A view by top cities is shown below. To access this, simply click on the three little dots on the bottom right of the table (not shown in this image) and select city. The chart automatically changes.google search trends

Metro View

This one is the coolest. It gets down to the most amount of detail by city and more.  To access this, simply click on the three little dots on the bottom right of the table (not shown in this image) and select metro. The chart automatically changes.
